Locals were very excited to watch “30 Rock” reunion special happening on KGW this Thursday. But unfortunately, they will have to wait a little longer, or find another way to watch. KGW won’t be airing “30 Rock: A One-Time Special” at 8 p.m. on July 16.
The Vulture reported that NBC affiliates opted out of carrying the reunion. Additionally, NBC commercials were promoting it all around.30 Rock Reunion
30 Rock Reunion: So why this U-turn?
The reunion special was announced in June. Emmy-winning winning show’s characters were destined to appear in the special. NBC also wanted to promote its shows through the special. NBC announcement in June read that the “30 Rock” special was intended to “celebrate the stories and talent featured in NBCUniversal’s 2020-21 television season.”
Series creator Tina Fey as Liz Lemon, along with the head writer of a TV sketch show; Alec Baldwin as her boss, Jack Donaghy were all set to feature in the special. Additionally, Tracy Morgan as the show’s star, Tracy Jordan; Jane Krakowski as Jordan’s co-star, Jenna Maroney; and Jack McBrayer as Kenneth Parcell were going to join them.
Sources reported that “30 Rock” reunion will promote NBCUniversal’s new streaming platform, Peacock, which officially launched on July 15.30 Rock Reunion

KGW listings showed that on July at 8 p.m., Portland-area viewers will see a repeat episode of “The Good Stuff”. This KGW-produced show that has been highlighting positive local stories, and usually airs at 7 p.m. weeknights.
Viewers in other markets will be able to watch “30 Rock: A One-Time Special” on July 16. Local viewers can catch up with it Friday morning. They can watch it via on-demand platforms, the NBC.com website and Peacock. According to the Vulture story, the “30 Rock” special won’t stream on Hulu.
