Microsoft launched the Definitive Edition of the classic real-time strategy game Age of Empires 3 on October 15, 2020. It marked the completion of the very Definitive Edition trilogy of Age of Empires games, consisting of all the Definitive Editions of all the three primary Age of Empires titles.

With all the three remastered versions having been launched, Microsoft is now looking to continue the AOE franchise with Age of Empires 4. When it launches, it is likely to be significant.

Why? Because there has been a shortage of RTS games in recent years. That genre has almost dried out of the quality titles, and Age Of Empires 4 seems to be one of the excellent bets that may help revive it.

Microsoft unveiled the first look at the age of Empires 4 gameplay during the Xbox 2019 event held in London in 2019 with a trailer. So, what new things the game is going to offer? Here is a rundown on all the things confirmed yet for the Age of Empires 4.

Age of Empires 4 is being in development by Relic Entertainment, the company of Heroes, the highest-rated RTS game yet, in collaboration with the Xbox Game Studios.

New civilizations are also expected to be added to the game. The trailer of the game showed the Mongol hordes besieging an English citadel, which means that the Mongols are confirmed as a playable civilization for now, apart from the English.

AoE4 would have fewer civilizations than AoE2, claims a report by PCGamesN. The information is based on a statement given by creative director Adam Isgreen in an interview with PCGamesN.

When asked about the number of civilizations in the upcoming game, he reportedly said that you could also expect to see fewer than the 13 that shipped with Age of Empires III, as we are aiming for more uniqueness with each civilization rather than quantity.”

In Age of Empires 4, handling the walls would be possible, and as such, you could station all your troops with the ranged attack on the battlements to fire down on the enemy, something which was not possible in Age of Empires 3.

The game has added siege weaponry and would be allowing you to destroy enemy walls with so much ease, as the trailer showed the use of trebuchets. We will update you as soon as anything gets officially revealed.
