After an awe-inspiring first season of Alice in Borderland on the streaming platform Netflix, many fans have been left wondering about any potential future season. It is still too early for Netflix to decide Alice’s future in Borderland, but early signs indicate we could hear some positive news shortly.
Alice in Borderland is a Netflix live-action adaptation of the manga of the exact same name by the author named Hara Aso. The series is directed by Shinsuke Sato, and it has been written by Yasuko Kuramitsu.
At the time of writing this article, Alice in Borderland has only been made available to stream on Netflix for five days. With the series still too new, we aren’t expecting to hear any renewal news for at least several weeks.
This is kind of normal for Netflix, as the streaming service will wait to gather all of the data that it needs to judge whether or not an Original is worth renewing.
A significant positive for Alice’s potential renewal in Borderland is how the web series is performing on Netflix around the world. The Original has already made it into the top 10 lists of over 50 countries.
In particular, the series performs well in the Asian countries where the series has already reached the first spot in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Alice in Borderland has yet to make its name into the top 10 of the US, UK, and Australia also but is currently 7th in Canada.
Alice in Borderland’ Season 2 | Netflix Renewal Status And More News
The first season of the series has covered roughly 31 chapters of the original manga, leaving another 33 chapters still left to be covered. The lead of the series, Arisu, had been already dealt a heavy hand throughout the first season.
Initially arriving with two of his friends named, Korube and Chota, they ultimately sacrificed themselves to ensure that Arisu had the best chance to progress.
The season’s climax came during the ten-of-he hearts game, where the beach residents had to guess who the “Witch” was correctly.
After plenty of infighting, many of the competitors were killed in the game’s confusion, but Arisu was able to correctly predict the real identity of the Witch, revealing it to be Momoka.
If we assume that Netflix renews the series for a second season, we could see Alice in Borderland return in the year 2021. Fans of this series have begun to speculate on a 2021 date of release thanks to potential easter eggs seen in season one’s final moments.
