Anime NabrasKon announced on Saturday that the event will not happen this year. They canceled the event in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. Given the increasing cases in the country, they do not want to take any more risks.
Events’ 2020 badges will be transferred to the 2021 event. The 2021 event is scheduled to take place on November 5-7. All the participants and Vendor registrations have been rolled over to the 2021 event.

Anime NebrasKon’s website also made different arrangements for people who do not want their badges to roll over. The organizers will issue a refund to all the people who want it. Additionally, they said those badge holders who booked Ramada Plaza, the Doubletree SW, or the Comfort Inn hotel rooms through the official Anime NebrasKon 2020 room block will automatically have their bookings canceled. They will receive the refund’s confirmation by August 4.
New badges for Anime NebrasKon 2021 and hotel bookings will be made available later this year.
What Is This Event?
Anime NebrasKon happens annually for 3-days. It’s an anime convention held during November at the Ramada Plaza Omaha Hotel and Convention Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Nebraska Japanese Animation Society organizes the event.
Members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s anime club (Otaku Jinrui) founded the event in 2004. Their main aim was to raise project funds at the beginning. Only 300 people attended the first convention. Eventually, its popularity grew every year.
In 2009 it moved to the Holiday Inn Omaha Convention Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and added 24-hour programming. The convention also hosted weddings in 2010 and 2011. Once police arrested an attendee after he entered a bank wearing cosplay from the Resident Evil series. The convention moved to La Vista in 2016 to accommodate the crowd.
Anime NabrasKon is one of the highly popular anime conventions in the world. Unfortunately, it won’t happen this year. Stay tuned and keep reading for more updates.
