“Aquaman 2” petition to remove Amber Heard exceeds 1.6 Million signees after Depp’s “Fantastic Beasts” exit.
Fans are furious over the Amber-Depp situation. After Warner Bros. asked Depp to step down from his role as “Grindelwald” in Fantastic Beasts, fans were angry and requested the Studios to remove Heard from the Aquaman franchise. The petition to remove Heard from “Aquaman 2” has garnered over 1.6 million signatures, and it is not ending anytime soon.
The petition took a more significant turn after WB announced Mads Mikkelsen would be replacing Johnny Depp as the evil “Grindelwald” in Fantastic Beasts 3.
What happened with Depp?
Depp shared on his Instagram that he will no longer be in the Fantastic Beasts. He mentioned that his actions were at the request of Warner Bros., the cause being his libel case against The Sun. The judicial authorities favored the publications, which referred to Depp as a “wife-beater” in a story that discussed his marriage with Heard. The petition to remove Heard from the movie alleges the actress is a “known and proven domestic abuser,” and thus the studio should request her exit if they did the same for Depp and “Fantastic Beasts.”
“Aquaman 2” reunites Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and James Wan. The Depp drama raised speculations that Heard won’t be in the Aquaman sequel as well. Amber dismissed all the rumors in an interview. “I’m super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we’ll be coming back,” Heard said. “I’m so excited to film that.”
The actress added, “Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality. Only the fans actually made ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Aquaman 2’ happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
