The third phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe may have already set up the Annihilation of Marvell as the next major crossover for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could possibly play out in Avengers 5.
Well, we would like to inform you that as of now, there is no word on if and when Avengers 5 movie will happen, but however, if it does happen, it could follow the story of the comic and may serve as the major crossover of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For those readers who are unaware that Annihilation was a Marvel Comics arc that was published in the year 2006. Instead of focusing on flagship heroes like Iron Man, SpiderMan, Captain America, Thor, and the X-Men, Annihilation was a storyline that was focused primarily on the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Avengers 5: How Is Marvel Phase 4 Forming A Base For A New Masterpiece?
Among the main character that was featured in the story are Nova, Thanos, Drax the Destroyer, Galactus, Ronan The Accuser, Silver Surfer, and more. Annihilus was the main antagonist of the comic, an old foe of the Fantastic Four, who has spent many years trapped in a dimension that is known as the Negative Zone.
Anniihilus lead a powerful army sometime after obtaining his freedom, called the Annihilation Wave, for the purpose of conquering the whole universe. The story of the battle with the Annihilus was told in a six-issue miniseries and multiple tie-ins.
Annihilation is just one of the several crossovers from the comics that could be an option for Marvel Cinematic Universe when it comes to creating its next giant overarching storyline.
The previous crossover was an adaptation of the miniseries named Gauntlet of the year 1980. We all are well aware of the fact that the story took years of buildup, and it finally culminated in a two-movie battle against Thanos, whose role is played by Josh Brolin in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Instead of jumping straight into another crossover, Marvel can use events from the preceding installments and upcoming Phase 4 movies to lay the groundwork for a giant crossover in Phase 5. Here is why Marvel could already be building toward “Annihilation” in Avengers 5.
Marvel could use Spider-Man: Far From Home’s post-credits scene with Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, Talos, and SWORD to lead into “Annihilation.” Two of the building blocks that Marvel needs for “Annihilation” are already in their place: the Kree and the Skrulls.
If they do adapt “Annihilation,” they can use fewer characters without even making the story feel any less epic. Just like Infinity Gauntlet, “Annihilation” is a story that puts everything on the line.
