Avenue 5 was probably one of the most polarising TV shows of the year 2020. While fans of the show can’t bear for the fact that season one is over, the critics couldn’t wait for the end. Armando Iannucci is the man behind the creation of this wacky and unpredictable universe of Avenue 5.
However, the humor in the series is dry and quick. It’s easy to “not get it” if you have a habit of blaring artificial laugh tracks to dictate when you should laugh. Also, the sci-fi comedy show is incredibly engaging and puts a unique twist on the human nature. Even in the oblivion of space, we get a show with high quality intellectual humor.
Is HBO Cancelling Or Renewing Avenue 5 After An Exciting Debut Season?
HBO produces and holds the right to telecast the program and is behind the production. Also, the show was a mainstay on the HBO Max streaming service, and hugely popular. However, here comes the good news, “Yes”, HBO is officially renewing the show for season two.
On Thursday, January 7th 2021, the announcement of a renewal came through and the makers are happy. Armando Iannucci himself came out to express his excitement. However, in his little except he also gave a bit of a clue about the trajectory season two.
“It was so great to be back again with HBO for Avenue 5, so I’m doubly thrilled that HBO have now seen fit to put Captain Ryan Clark and his passengers and crew through even more physical and emotional hell next year too,”
Obviously, we all know that the soul of this show lies in the humor in times of crisis. If we convey the premise of the show to someone who is yet to see the show, they might not be very thrilled. Dark Comedy is born out of a struggle one has against something invincible. It’s always funny to see someone fall down on his bum, and that’s what we get with this show.

Meanwhile the captain of the ship is holding a very important secret about himself from the passengers.
Hugh Laurie, the veteran British actor is masterful in his portrayal of the shady but lost commander, Ryan Clark.
