Javicia Leslie is now officially the Batwoman, and on October 26, 2020, Monday, The CW and WarnerBros unveiled the first look of the 33 years old actress suited up as the iconic DC Comics superhero for the second season of the hit series of the network. In the photos, Ryan Wilder of Javicia Leslie dons the brand new Batsuit, which features a new cowl with natural curly hair with red streaks, shorter boots, and red gauntlets over the forearms.
Ryan initially dons Kate Kane’s suit according to a press release, whose role is played by Ruby Rose in the first season of the series, at the beginning of the second season, but as she grows into her newfound role as Batwoman, she redesigns the suit.

In the third episode, a new Batsuit is revealed by Ryan, sending a message to Gotham that a new hero has made its arrival. The conceptualization of the redesigned Batsuit was done by Batwoman costume designer Maya Mani and was created by Ocean Drive Leather.

The wig was created by Janice Workman, and the makeup was styled by Cory Roberts. Leslie said in a statement that she loves the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman; it is her style, her swag, and her moment. She added that it was an honor to be able to collaborate with Maya and Caroline.
She felt that it was important that the viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl. With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, they definitely nailed it.
Leslie is going to make her debut as the superhero in the month of January of the next year, when the series is all set to return to The CW for the second season. She is the first Black actress to step into the iconic role of a live-action movie or TV show.
She also said in a press release following the news of her casting in the month of July that she is extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on Television, and as a bisexual woman, she is honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.
