The story of the show mainly revolves around Emma/Mia Akerlund, a young teen who is pursuing a degree in medicine at the University of Freiburg. She is taken by genetic engineering and is spying her teacher Dr Tanja Lorenz who she believes killed her parents along with her twin brother. The first six episodes were released and let’s take a look at the end of the first season step by step.

Biohackers: The Premise

Emma/Mia Akerlund is a student taking medicine at the University of Freiburg, where she meets Jasper, a talented biology student, and Niklas, his somewhat strange roommate. She is very interested in Biohacking technology and becomes involved in the world of illegal genetic experimentation. Now driven by the rage and anger she feels towards Dr Lorenz, she tries to dig through the professor’s research, and she goes on her journey to convict the professor of his wrongdoings.

The Experiment of Dr Lorenz

Emma started to dig in Lorenz’s past (being a Biohackers). She learns about operation, Homo Deus. It was an experiment where hundred of kids (precisely 200) were used as a test subject to experiment upon and trying to hack their biological system. Emma learns she and her brother were a part of this and how everyone died in this experiment, leaving her the sole survivor with a perfect immune system.

Emma tries to gather evidence of Dr Lorenz’s illegal Genome sequence experiments but Lorentz keeps himself one step ahead of the curve every time. She made game with the assistant Jasper and did every possible thing to get the DNA evidence.

In the end, Emma did get her hands on the DNA evidence, and she was going to expose Dr Lorenz’s illegal experiment to the world. While she decided all this something else was conspiring. She meets a man who claims to be his parents, friend and confidant. Emma, in a moment of weakness, believes him and went with his story. She gave him the DNA evidence. Emma hopes that he will help her in exposing Lorenz’s secrets to the world. However, the man abducts her and locks her up into a van where she finds Lorenz.

So who was that man again? Well, it turns out he was Dr Andreas Winter (another one of those biohackers), a journalist for the Stanford quarterly and an ex-scientist who just wanted the DNA evidence use it for personal benefits. This show certainly picks on Narcissistic scientist. Emma believed that a journalist he would help her, but in turn, he just used the evidence for his benefits.

And that’s not it cause Emma is still captured and abducted and when Winters found out about her near-perfect immune system, he more determined to use her for his new experiments. Talk about being in a pickle! He decides to use them to create an ideal genetic modification which will allow everyone to gain an immune system as perfect as Emma’s. His ultimate intention is to gain fame and money with the help of this discovery.

Future of Emma and another season of Biohackers:

Emma is not dead, but who knows what’ll happen in the future. She definitely in more trouble than she started in. Now we have to see what becomes of this quest oh hers and what will happen to Dr Lorenz. Another significant aspect would be watching Winters and Lorenz interact, two heartless psychos. Biohacker is a dangerous breed, i’ll tell you that after watching the show.
