Black Panther 2 will not recast Chadwick Boseman’s role. Marvel Studios’ head, Kevin Feige, confirms the news. Reports also say that the film will neither use CGI graphics.
The sequel to 2018’s Black Panther is probably the most awaited movie. The movie took an unexpected turn when Boseman passed away this year after a lengthy battle with colon cancer. Boseman’s phenomenal depiction of Prince T’Challa was iconic in the true sense. His way of acting is paradigmatic and makes it incredibly difficult to imagine anyone else possibly replacing his legendary role.
Black Panther 2, opening July 8, 2022, is being written & directed by Ryan Coogler. Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa, @MarvelStudios will not recast the character, but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.

Chadwick Boseman’s Legacy!
Boseman’s performance as the titular hero and king of Wakanda “transcends any iteration of the character,” Feige said. Marvel will not recast Black Panther/T’Challa in the forthcoming sequel, and instead opt to “honor the legacy”. Marvel also confirms that they do not plan on using any CGI effects to recreate Boseman for Black Panther 2.
There is simply no replacement for the legend himself. His legacy is immense and there is no doubt he will always live in our memories, not just for playing T’Challa but for his other incredible roles, as well as for being a genuinely kind person in real life.
Black Panther 2 won’t be the same without Chadwick. We sure can be hopeful, that the sequel pays him the tribute he deserves and also justifies his role. It will premiere on July 8, 2022.
Letitia Wright, who plays T’Challa’s sister, Princess Shuri, states that filming a sequel without Boseman felt odd because she and her other Black Panther co-stars are still in grief. Wright and the rest of the original Black Panther cast are reportedly returning for the shooting. With such an awful loss of such an able actor, it is vital that Marvel is respectful of the impact Boseman had on fans globally when moving ahead with the sequel.
Will Princess Shuri take center stage?
A question that arises is, who will now be the main focus? Princess Shuri or will there be more of a focus on T’Challa’s love interest, Nakia? Danai Gurira who portrays Okoye, and is the head of the Dora Milaje, catches the eyes of the viewers in part one. There were certainly some incredible women introduced in Black Panther, so hopefully, they’ll get a chance to take center stage in the sequel.
