Karl Schaefer and John Hyams created the Netflix Original zombie-thriller series, Black Summer. The series is set in the same universe of Z-Nation. The series is branded as a prequel, but it more a spiritual successor than anything else.
Black Summer is set years before the events of Z-Nation. A mother joins with a group of strangers in the darkest days of the zombie apocalypse. She wants theirs help to find her lost daughter and their loved ones.
In the end of the first season, we saw that Rose and her daughter are united once again. So, what in store for season 2? Where will the story lead following the ‘happy’ ending of season 1?
Netflix Renewal Status
Netflix typically takes up to one to two months to renew its shows. But in the case of Black Summer, there was no news of renewal until October 2019.
Netflix confirmed in November 2019 that Black Summer will return for a second season.
What’s the production status?
The filming of the second season began in early 2020. But unfortunately, due to the pandemic affect the production has been halted since March 18.
According to a new ProductionWeekly report, the filming will begin on August 17, 2020. This was a sign of relief for all the fans. Filming of the first season began in July 2018 and wrapped up by the end of September 2018.
