After the long drag that was the year 2020, rising country singer Cory Marks figures we all could use a holiday pick-me-up. He tells the inspiration behind his cover of ‘Jingle My Bells’ and what he wants most this Christmas.

Cory Marks says that Given the way 2020 has been for all of us, she thought something energetic and fun is what they need this Christmas. With that, it unwrapped “Jingle My Bells,” a raucous, rockin’ track that is one part, Clark Griswold and one part Cousin Eddie, and it was all fun.

“Jingle My Bells” comes from Christmas with a holiday compilation from the Better Noise Music label Better Noise Music. It also closes out a banner year for Marks. He also released Who I Am earlier in the year 2020, a 13-track mission statement that also works as a near-perfect introduction to this refreshing new voice in country music.

Who I Am also reflects Cory’s more challenging side. While growing up, the North Bay, the first love of Ontario native was a rock from Ozzy Osbourne to Deep Purple to the Canadian legends Rush. A deep dive into the country records of his parents help Mark discover a passion for classic country stars like Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings.

He never really forgot his rock roots, and also “Out In The Rain,” his duet with Lizzy Hale of the Halestorm, does prove it. Now, can we get them to do an updated new version of Bing Crosby and David Bowie’s “Little Drummer Boy?”

When he was asked why did he decide to cover this song, then he revealed that he remembers hearing this song as a kid growing up around the times of Christmas, but the way Kevin produced it gave it a whole new feel with that upbeat tempo that is mixed between the 90’s country and rock n roll.

He also revealed that it was a lot of fun to record, provided the way this year has been for all of us, he thought something energetic and fun is what they needed this Christmas.
