In the months ahead, big changes are brewing up for the DC Comics, both in terms of stories that are being published and in the response of the company to the recent layoffs and the editorial restructuring. With many of the ongoing comics wrapping up over the next several months and the massive Dark Nights: Death Metal crossover, which is steering toward its climax in the month of January, it is clear that the DC Universe has something big planned for the next year. That is where the Future State will be coming in.
It is a two-month event wherein most of the regular monthly comics of DC are going to be temporarily replaced by a totally new lineup of one-shot special and limited series. We would also like to inform you that there is no one, which can be said as the core Future State comic.
Instead, the entire event will be allowing the creators to explore the future of the DC Universe, with the stories set anywhere from the year 2030 all the way till the end of the time as we are aware of it. And once the Future State concludes at the end of the month of February, the ongoing plans of DC for its comic book lineup will be becoming clear.
DC Universe In 2021 Will Be Something We’ve Never Seen Before! Know DC Future State Promise
While it will be too early to say what is coming in the month of March, we can shed much more light o the premise of the Future State and the various comics that are involved.
It can basically be summed up as a bridge connecting the Dark Nights: Death Meta and the more long term plans for the year 2021 of DC. Death Metal has been exploring the final battle of the Justice League, with the dark goddess, Perpetua, who gave birth to the DC multiverse.
The bigger Future State event is being divided into three core pillars, one is Superman Family, the second is Batman Family, and the third is the Justice League family. The Superman family books will be dealing primarily with the self-imposed exile of Superman from the Earth following a disastrous international incident.
Batman Family books will be exploring the lasting legacy of Bruce Wayne. He himself is apparently dead in the ear of the Future State, with Gotham now being ruled on by The Magistrate, a villain.
The Justice League Family will be taking a wider look at the DCU of the near and the far future.
