Disney+’s Hawkeye series brings in many new characters for the MCU while also tackling Clint Barton’s past. Of the original six Avengers, Hawkeye and Natasha, the Black Widow were the only members not to have their films before being well introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Black Widow has her very highly anticipated movie on the way, Clint Barton is at last getting his time in the spotlight with his Disney+ series.
With Jeremy Renner reprising his big role as the titular archer and introducing Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop role, here is everything we know so far about Hawkeye.
Clint Barton’s Hawkeye was initially introduced in Thor as an archer working on behalf of an organization named S.H.I.E.L.D., and he later played a larger role in the 2012 movie, The Avengers, which alluded to a past with Natasha that cemented the two as really close friends.
Fans would learn more about Clint in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which revealed that Clint had a wife, two kids, and also a baby on the way.
Disney+’s Hawkeye | Everything We Know So Far
While he was retired after the Age of Ultron, he came to help Captain America in Captain America: Civil War, eventually leading to his house arrest.
Because of this, he was not present with the Avengers during Avengers: Infinity War‘s battle in Wakanda. Instead, he was at his home with his family, and Clint Barton could do nothing as they disappeared mysteriously after the Snap.
Out of grief, he would become Ronin, killing all the criminals who survived the Snap; however, he teamed up with the Avengers again to bring back their loved ones in Avengers: Endgame.
Thankfully, they were successful, and while Clint Bartan lost two of his teammates, his family did return.
The casting announcement for the same has also provided more insight into what the show is going to be about. Hawkeye will introduce Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, to the MCU, as well as William Lopez, whose role is played by Zahn McClarnon.
Echo is another hero, and she can even copy the movements of her opponents. The show will also be bringing in Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, introduced in Black Widow.
The show will also feature Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga), Kate’s mother, who was falsely presumed dead in the comics. While a specific date has yet to be announced, Hawkeye will come to Disney+ in late 2021.
