Dragon Ball franchise is undoubtedly one of the worlds most famous and loved manga franchise. The franchise has a huge fan base all over the world. Right now, the anime is in a very strange place. The franchise’s anime is on a hiatus for a long time now. Also, the franchise has not released any feature film recently.

The last film they released was Dragon Ball Super: Broly and it was a huge success. On the other hand, the manga is advancing at a perfect rate. Its “Galactic Patrol Prisoner” arc is at an interesting point. Goku and Vegeta both are getting a new power boost and it’s very exciting. Does Dragon Ball Franchise need to change in order to survive?

The franchise’s anime genre has been on a hiatus for a long time. The manga, however, is developing at a very good pace. The catch is that other anime titles are gaining popularity faster and are becoming the genre’s new poster for children.

Titles like Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Attack On Titan is gaining high popularity. These relatively new titles are expanding their fan base all around the world.

On the other hand, the Dragon Ball anime is not keeping pace with changing times. Fans are disappointed by this and as a result, many have stopped following its story. Fans that they will see something new when the manga’s “Galactic Patrol Prisoner” storyline rolled out. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just a Dragon Ball Z clone.

The other new story on the way is the Dragon Ball Heroes promo anime. This has new flashy power-ups and battles and is connected to the Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade and card game. However, it does not advance the Dragon Ball Z story in any way and is just a pure fan-service.

Do They Need A Change?

The franchise is seemingly recycling the spectacle rather than creating an exciting new substance. Dragon Ball Z could have done everything that Dragon Ball Super offered. Additionally, the Super was less bold as they outlined some favorite characters like Gohan, Goten, and Trunks. All we see is Goku and Vegeta getting new hair colors as pumped-up versions of DBZ’s Super Saiyan process.

Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation should consider some new changes and introducing a new era to survive in this competitive pool. Fans also said that the Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Heroes lacked quality animation.

Additionally, given that team now has Naohiro Shintani, they could do far better. Naohiro Shintani actually brings new visual flavor and battle mechanics to the franchise. If the franchise needs to keep its dominance, they have to reclaim the anime mantle.
