Gossip Girl Reboot: Director Finalized For The HBO Max Show

The beloved show is finally getting a reboot after years of rumblings. Though their run ended in the year 2012, Leighton Meester‘s Blair Waldorf and Blake Lively‘s Serena van der Woodson are forever in our hearts and the millennial television canon.
Well, now, their spiritual descendants ate, heading to the small screen. In this article, we’ll be discussing all the details that we have as of now about the Gossip Girl Reboot.

The creators of the original series, Stephanie Savage, and Josh Schwartz, have signed on to helm a Gen-Z revival of the beloved show. A press release reads that a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl eight years after the original website went dark.

It added that the prestige series would be addressing just how much social media and the landscape of New York itself has changed in the intervening years. We would like to tell you that the series was originally slated to debut in the fall of this year, but coronavirus threw a wrench in the schedule, forcing the production to shut down in the spring even before it began.

Kevin Reilly, HBO Max chief content officer revealed that they had not even started the production of the reboot of the series yet, they were in the pre-production, and they were ready to roll. It was reported that in the month of September, the show was slated to begin shooting in New York in the month of October and that the production had already begun in Vancouver, New York, and Los Angeles.

A true fan of the series knows that Dan “Lonely Boy” Humphrey ended up being the central mystery blogger of the show, but Gossip Girl was always voiced by Kristen Bell.

This week, it has been confirmed that she has signed on for the new project. The showrunners, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Joshua Safran in a joint statement that Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of the Gossip Girl.

Safran, who wrote and executively produced for the original Gossip Girl, is returning for its next part. He said that he was very hesitant to join the reboot, but when he presented his idea of what it should be like to his old collaborators, he signed on.
