Grey’s Anatomy wrapped its 16th season on April 9, 2020. The makers had planned to release 25 episodes for this season. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the cast couldn’t complete the shoot for this season’s last four episodes. It is evident that the makers won’t be releasing the final four episodes now!

The makers renewed the series for a seventeenth season back in 2019. So it’s confirmed that the show is indeed going to return on our screens.
Grey’s Anatomy has followed a pattern of releasing its seasons in September every year. But since we all know that the shoot can’t be completed amid the coronavirus pandemic, the release will have to be pushed ahead.
The fans can expect the next season sometime in 2021.
All the original cast members are confirmed to come back for the next season except Justin Chambers.

In the final episode of the sixteenth season, Teddy decides to marry Owen, even though she cheats on her fiancee with Tom. Viewers got to see Meredith desperate to save Richard. On the other hand, DeLuca also reveals that he might know the actual reason behind Richard’s strange ailment.
The showrunner Krista Vernoff spoke about Meredith’s character. She stated that there’s an equal fifty-fifty percent chance for Meredith to either end up with DeLuca or Cormac Hayes.
She also added that the seventeenth season would continue from where the sixteenth season was left.
The recent speculations made about the show suggest that the series might pick the current ‘Coronavirus Situation’ as an exclusive plot for their next season!
