Isabella Gomez, One Day At A Time vet, is making her way to the online streaming service providing platform of HBO, HBO Max for a new comedy series. According to sources, actress Isabella Gomez has signed on to star in a new multi-camera comedy coming down the pipeline at HBO Max.
Head of the Class is the title of the series, and it serves as a reboot of the hit 1980s series of ABC of the same name. The original iteration of the series ran from the year 1986 to 1991 and focused on a group of gifted students and Charlie Moore, their history teacher, whose role is played by Howard Hessman.
Gomez will be taking on the teacher role for the upcoming HBO Max reboot. Specifically, the name of her character is Alicia Adams, a first-time teacher who is described as “whip-smart, funny, blunt” and as being the “high school teacher we all wish we had.”
Head Of The Class Reboot: Isabella Gomez To Star In HBO Max’s Next!
Though she, herself, was once a star student, her hope for the gifted kids she will be teaching is to have them focus less on grades and more on experiencing life.
Behind the camera, HBO MAx’s Head of the Class reboot was created by Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen, who is likely best known for penning the online streaming service platform, Netflix’s popular documentary, American Vandal.
Others involved behind the scenes include Bill Lawrence of Doozer Productions, as well as original series producers Warner Bros., Television. The casting announcement of Isabella Gomez today comes just 24 hours after we learned that Pop TV has decided not to renew One Day At A Time for a fifth season.
While we are sure fans who know Gomez for her work playing Elena Alvarez on ODAAT are still mourning the loss of the hit Latinx sitcom, we’re sure they’ll be excited to learn it won’t be long before Gomez is back on the small screen.
Currently, there is no official word on when we can expect HBO Max’s Head of the Class reboot to debut via HBO Max. For more details and updates on the project, make sure to stay tuned to our website, as we will be updating you as soon as we get any official update on the project.
