Lil Nas X is back, and now it is time to trade the horse for a reindeer, and he has also brought presents, as the Old Town Road singer is now Santa in his new Christmas bop, Holiday.
It was proclaimed by Akim and the Teddy Vann Production Company in the year 1973 that Santa Claus Is A Black Man. Well, after 47 years, Lil Nas X has proved them right with the release of Holiday.
The Old Town Road singer made his return to music on November 13, transforming into a modern-day Santa Claus with an iced-out makeover. In the video, which is directed by Gibson Hazard and Lil Nas X, the workshop of Santa also undergoes a slight renovation.
Instead of a really cozy factory line of stuffed animals and bikes, his workshop was powered by androids assembling gifts like PlayStation 5. Even his reindeer was bionic, as they pulled along Santa’s sleight converted from a red Dodge challenger with the top down.
Holiday: Lil Nas X Turns Santa In Latest Music Video!
It is safe to say Holiday goes harder than the holiday songs before it, no shade intended, Jingle Bell Rock. He has teased dropped a teaser for the song and the video with a commercial during Sunday Night Football.
Nas also ran a spot similar to his Super Bowl Doritos advertisement, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the New Orleans Saints, except this time around, a drunken Santa gets tossed out of a saloon.
He invokes his own Santa Clause by picking up the hat of the fat man, turning into the new Kris Kringle. Santa’s sleight suddenly turns into a time machine, which also cues the surprise cameo from Back To The Future‘s Michael J. Fox. Michael says in full Back To The Future 3, Marty McFly-getup that whatever you do, Nas, do not go to 2020.
Holiday is his first new music in almost two years, though that may be a bit of an exaggeration. His debuted EP, 7, was released in the month of June of the year 2019, and it contained “Old Town Road,” the giant hit released by him in the year 2018.
Though a remix of Rodeo was released by Nas X as a single in the month of January of the year 2020, there has not really been much from Nas X until this Holiday announcement.
