Zack Snyder recently opened up about his theatrical hopes for his Justice League but admitted he does not have much control over its distribution. Zack Snyder is really interested in having his Justice League receive a theatrical run sometime in the near future.
After helming DCEU installments like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Man of Steel, Zack Snyder was ready to direct the first live-action Justice League movie. The Fans were excited mainly to see what he had in store for the movie, but he was forced to leave the production midway through due to a family tragedy.
Joss Whedon was then brought in to complete the movie, and he ended up changing much of what Zack had planned. Thus, the fan campaign for the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League was born.
After several years of hard work, the dreams of the fans came true earlier this year when Snyder confirmed his movie would be released on the online streaming service providing platform of HBO, HBO Max next year.
Over the past several months, Snyder has been working hard on completing his cut, which also involves new reshoots with various cast members.
Justice League: Zack Snyder Wants A Theatrical Release Apart From HBO Max Release
Due to the epic scope of this Justice League, it is going to be released as a four-part miniseries. As of right now, it is being kept to HBO Max, but if Snyder has his way, it will reach new platforms in the future.
In a recent interview with Ping Pong Flix, Snyder opened up about his dreams of having the movie debut in theaters. He said that he loves the movies, he loves the theatrical experience, and he is a huge advocate.
If it is possible, he would love there to be a theatrical component to the movie. He continued by saying that he can not quite guarantee it as much as he wants it to happen because he has no say over distribution matters.
It is a little above my pay grade as far as distribution. The reality is the way distribution works; Warner Bros. and HBO Max they have to make deals with all these different territories, and there’s this super complicated process of how they sell the movie.
For now, the Snyder Cut still needs to come out on HBO Max, but perhaps a theatrical debut could come afterward.
