‘MacGyver,’ ‘Magnum P.I.’ Showrunner Peter Lenkov Fired at CBS

Most prolific showrunners of CBS is fired by authorities at CBS. Accusations of creating a toxic work environment lead to suspension of Peter Lenkov.

Lenkov runs the CBS dramas “MacGyver” and “Magnum PI” and has been showrunner for a quite a long time now. He also created the network’s “Hawaii Five-0” reboot, which ended earlier this year.

A CBS TV studio spokesperson stated that the studio has ended its relationship with Peter Lenkov and he is no longer the executive producer overseeing MacGyver and Magnum P.I. Monica Macer will be the new showrunner ‘MacGyver’ and Eric Guggenheim will run ‘Magnum P.I.’

So, what’s the inside story?

CBS TV Studios spokesperson further said that the studio oversees the employees’ well-being and ensures safe and respectful production environments. They have assigned human resource production partners to every show and are expanding staff training and increased reporting options. They are committed to finding a sense of trust and harmony with their employees. Every complaint at CBS TV Studios is taken seriously and investigated upon and followed by a reasonable solution. Lenkov violated the work environment and values of the company so they decide to fire him.

Lenkov representatives did not give response initially. Reports claimed that Lenkov was the subject of at least three different complaints that said he was manipulative or abusive.

Lenkov had a year left on his overall deal with CBS Studios. CBS also fired “NCIS: New Orleans” showrunner Brad Kern in 2018 over claims of abuse and harassment. CBS conducted multiple investigations into Kern’s behavior. Following the investigation, they also dismissed Brad Kushell as co-showrunner of the short-lived “Fam” over the use of “inappropriate language in the workplace.” Vinnie Favale, the CBS Studios executive was also placed on leave over allegations of misconduct.

Most of the above-mentioned executives and showrunners were under CBS’ days run by Leslie Moonves. Moonves himself left the network after multiple accusations of sexual misconduct in late 2018, allegations that he denied.
