Miller introduced his audiences to Charlize Theron’s Furiosa in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’. The film went on to win half a dozen of Academy Awards and dozens of nominations. Mad Max: Furiosa: Release Date and More!
Warner Bros. announced that the prequel will have a theoretical released in 2023. The studios confirmed that the prequel will land on June 23, 2023. The movie will premiere in theatres and it won’t be an exclusively HBO Max release. So, the ‘Furiosa’ prequel will be out approximately eight years after Mad Max: Fury Road was released.
George Miller is all set to direct the film. After all, his brilliance is what made the character stand out. Additionally, Charlize Theron’s portrayal of Furiosa brought the character to life and turned it into a global appeal. ‘Furiosa’ was such a stand out that Miller began discussing the possibility of a Furiosa solo film. Miller is also planning a sequel to his ‘Mad Max’ franchise along with a ‘Furiosa’ prequel.
After receiving huge acclamation all around the world, Miller started discussing a Furiosa solo film a long time ago. That discussion, however, seemed to be going nowhere up until now.
The studios have also revealed that The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy is selected to follow in Theron’s footsteps. Earlier, Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer was set to portray the role. However, given Anya Taylor-Joy’s skyrocketing success and global recognition as an actress, the director changed his mind.
A few more confirmed cast members includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Chris Hemsworth. This star-studded prequel of an intense and well-known franchise is going to be worth the wait.

George Miller and Byron Kennedy created the first Mad Max film in 1979. The franchise’s unique and appealing storyline has made the director go for it again in 2015.
The film is set in a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland where set aside petrol, even water is a rare commodity. Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) joins forces with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) to flee from cult leader Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). Joe controls the water supply and lives like a king surrounded by his army. Max and Furiosa decide to take Joe out in an armored tanker truck, leading to a lengthy road battle.
