Kevin Smith revealed that he has spoken with Ben Affleck, View Askew regular, about returning to play the role of Shannon Hamilton in Mallrats 2. The director of Mallrats 2, Kevin Smith, recently revealed that Ben Affleck would be reprising his role as the villain in the sequel of the comedy film of View Askew, Mallrats.
He portrayed Shannon Hamilton last in the year 1995, and since then, he was busy playing the role of the comic book hero, Batman. He portrayed Batman in Justice League and won numerous Academy Awards, along with the Golden Globes for writing, acting, and directing.
Kevin Smith officially released the title of the sequel in January, and it was Twilight of the Mallrats. In March, after completing the script in the period of lockdown, he said that Shannon Hamilton would be the returning character to the sequel of the Mallrats film.
Ben Affleck’s return to Mallrats 2
The long-awaited sequel will be featuring various similarities to the original project despite the fact that most of the characters that once played the role of college students are in their fifties. Ben was not attached to the project at that time, but he appeared in six View Askew movies, among which the most recent one was, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in the year 2019. This shows that it is no surprise Ben Affleck will be willing to reprise his role as Shannon Hamilton.
The indication of Affleck’s return was given by Smith during a live stream going on Twitch channel by Jason Mewes. However, Ben Affleck has not officially confirmed his return as the character Shannon Hamilton in the sequel of Mallrats yet. But Smith says that he has a discussion with Ben regarding this and it looks good and promising.
