The Hulk is notoriously very hard to take down, but Maestro #5 evens the battling field with a brand new weapon designed by X-Men’s Forge to ultimately kill the Jade Giant. Figuring out how to defeat the giant Hulk has always been one of the most significant challenges in the Marvel Universe.
The Jade Giant is really strong enough to lift billions of tons of weight and has a healing factor that rivals even Wolverine. But, despite his incredible power, he is not unkillable. Marvel just unveiled a weapon that is capable of putting Hulk down for good.
Maestro is a series from Peter David that is focusing on a future, most evil version of the Hulk. After waking up in a post-apocalyptic world that is ravaged by nuclear warfare, Hulk decides that humanity no longer deserves its freedom.
He kills Hercules and then replaces him as the Maestro of Dystopia, a city of survivors, which he continues to rule over with an iron fist and an army of massive robotic dogs.
In issue #5, Hulk also hosts a city-wide funeral procession for Hercules, though the event is more to solidify his rule than to honor his former Olympian comrade. However, things don’t go quite as planned.
Marvel Comics Reveals The One Weapon That Can Kill The Hulk
In the middle of the procession, Dystopia citizens voice their desire to have a fair election. The tyrannical Hulk responds to it by letting loose his robotic dogs of war, created using the remnants of Alchemax, Spider-Man 2099’s company.
However, a powerful laser beam destroys the robotic dogs before they can even do much damage, revealing a squadron of the armed civilians led by a woman wielding some laser cannon.
“Crap! That gun is supposed to be down here!” Rick Jones says, witnessing from his underground base. “Forge built it…to kill the Hulk!” Forge is or, in this timeline, was one of the X-Men, whose powers include a superhuman talent for creating any mechanical device, including weaponry.
If anyone could craft a gun that is capable of killing the Hulk, it would be Forge, but a forged weapon is only as good as the one who wields it, and the people of Dystopia are simply no match for the Maestro.
Seeing as Maestro now has the weapon that can kill him in his custody, he should not have much to worry about. Who knows what another superhero tech Rick Jones has tucked away. He has already been shown to have Thor’s hammer and a new wielder, as well as many other relics of heroes gone by, so Rick’s armory could very well be the key to taking down the Hulk.
