Hazuki Takeoka and Tiv’s Masamune-kun’s Revenge (Masamune-kun no Revenge) manga has something new up its sleeve. Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Rex magazine’s September issue revealed that a special character’s appearance. Additionally, a special character will feature in the magazine’s next issue on August 27.

Seven Seas Entertainment owns the manga’s license in North America.

Masamune-kun’s Revenge: Synopsis

Makabe Masamune is an overweight child who gets mercilessly teased and bullied by one particular girl, Adagaki Aki. He gets determined to get his revenge one day. Makabe begins improving himself and sets out for the personal transformation. He rigorously trains to achieve his better self.

Many years later, Masamune comes out as an entirely new person. Masamune-kun becomes very handsome, popular, with perfect grades. He is also very good at sports. Masamune then gets transferred to Aki’s school and she is unable to recognizable him. He is all set to confront the mean girl who bullied him many years ago. Also, he is going to have fun teasing her. Will his revenge be as sweet as he thought?

Writer Takeoka and female Korean artist Tiv created the manga. It premiered in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Rex magazine in 2012. Ichijinsha also bundled an Original Anime Disc (OAD) with manga’s 10th volume which tells an “after story” of the manga. The volume shipped in July 2018.

Takeoka and Tiv launched the Masamune-kun no Revenge after school (Masamune-kun’s Revenge after school) spinoff manga. This also got released in Monthly Comic Rex September 2018 and wrapped up in January 2019. This manga also tells similar after stories about the characters, including Masamune and Aki and many others.

Ichijinsha published the stories in one compiled book volume as the “volume 11” of the manga in April 2019, and Seven Seas Entertainment published the volume on June 16.

The manga got adapted into television anime that premiered in January 2017. Crunchyroll streamed it in Japan and Funimation airs its English dubbed version.
