She has spent the majority of her career on the super hit daytime soap titled, The Young and the Restless, and she would not have it any other way. Thomas has starred as Nikki on Y&R, which will be airing its 12,000th on December 1, since the year 1979.
She reflects on her Y&R journey, opens up about childhood, and more in her memoir Always Young and Restless, which is available now. Melody revealed why she decided to write a book now and how she recalled so many memories to include in her memoir.
The actress revealed that she feels so “lucky” to have taken the role of Nikki all those years ago because it changed her life in so many ways. She also admitted she has no plans to leave the show and even has ideas about what she would like to see Nikki experience in the future.

When asked about a specific moment in time when she decided that she wanted to write this memoir, she said that she has always known that there was a book written in her simply because of her very unique upbringing and the different adversities she had to deal with and conquer eventually.
Only her friends and family were aware of all the craziness that she had to endure, and they always said to her that she should write a book. Well, now she knows that they were right.
In addition to the chapters of the show, she wrote about her childhood and the beginnings of her career. The main question that raised her was how did she go through all those memories.
To this, she revealed that she does have a bizarre memory that she did mention briefly in the book. Melody Thomas has only ever met one other person who has this where it is like with early childhood.
She thinks that this role really affected her personal life. It gave her the stability that she really needed, and she was just so lucky to have made that decision.
