Naruto has fought his way through several enemies and wars over the years. It has become very common for him to have near-death experiences. He frequently comes close to, but always evades death. As a teen he defeated the likes of Pain and the Akatsuki, Madara and Obito Uchiha, and Kaguya, proving himself worthy of being the Seventh Hokage of Konoha. The Sage of the Six Paths admitted that he could become the most godlike shinobi ever.
Naruto’s enormous Chakra was like the powerhouse for the whole allied shinobi army. It has saved even saved Konoha on numerous occasions. But now will the tables turn? And the Chakra that has been saving our hero throughout the series slowly kill him?
The Naruto novel Sasuke Retsuden: The Uchiha Descendants and the Heavenly Stardust, released in 2019. The Jump J Books imprint introduced an alarming threat in the Naruto Universe. But this threat isn’t from any of the classic foes like Orochimaru or Madara. But, a more dangerous(possibly), a mysterious chakra illness. It is slowly stealing Naruto and his Jinchuriki- Kurama’s chakra bank for years.
Sasuke Retsuden is similar to the Naruto original films release concurrently with the anime. It is written by Jun Esaka and is being illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. This is a new Naruto arc but is separate from both of the original manga and anime series.
The story is about grown-up Team 7. Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno are set on a journey to find a cure to Naruto’s declining health.
What is this Chakra Illness?
The Chakra illness can be linked to the Chakra Virus. It is a very dangerous and rare virus that affects a person’s ability to mold chakra. It turns their chakra into a fever. For this reason, shinobis are very afraid of it.
Is Naruto the First One to get this illness?
Well surprisingly, No! Naruto is not the only ninja to experience the effects of the chakra illness. The first jinchuriki Rikudo Sennin a.k.a. the Sage of the Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, was once fated with the illness as well. Following his period of isolation overcoming the sickness, the Sage of the Six Paths eventually found a way to rid himself of the chakra illness. It was through a looming meteorite which the Hagoromo split in half. This exposed him to the rock’s polarized particles.
The force of energy that the Naruto character has relied on for years in battle is now killing him. But Naruto has survived this long and overcame numerous obstacles that a chakra illness seems par for the course for an older Naruto. While his health may continue to worsen without a primed cure, it’s unlikely that an illness would ever see the end of the title character. Someone who tends to turn the impossible into possible.
