The Kominsky Method is officially coming back for one final outing but significant changes to the third season, including the biggest that Alan Arkin will not be returning. Here is everything we know about The Kominsky Method Season 3, likely hitting the online streaming service providing platform Netflix in the year 2021.
The Chuck Lorre series is the second comedy series that the famed producer behind Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory has put on Netflix.
His first was the Disjointed series, which is now-doomed that only lasted for a season, but The Kominsky Method surpassed that, and it is easily one of Netflix’s best comedies. Proving this was the three nominations that Netflix picked up for it (Netflix picked up 160 nominations in total) at the 2020 Emmys.
Season one arrived on Netflix in the month of November of the year 2018, with season two dropping on October 25th, 2019.
The series looked to be in limbo for over six months as Netflix had not formally announced season 3. However, that changed in the month of July of this year when Netflix officially announced its return, but with the caveat, it’d be the final entry into the Netflix show.
Netflix’s The Kominsky Method’ Season 3 | Release And Production Updates
According to some sources, the renewal was made by Netflix in early 2020, and it did not get publicly announced until later in the year. When the series was initially renewed, filming was not allowed to begin due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which stopped most of the Netflix productions.
Lorre did hope that the production on his shows would get back underway in fall 2020 in an interview in July, and that does seem to be the case with many Netflix shows, but we have yet to have confirmation that the series has followed suit.
In the month of December, we got word via filming permits that shooting had begun on the third and final season. Specifically, the filming had restarted in Los Angeles, California, at some point in November 2020.
We were initially expecting The Kominsky Method to arrive on the streaming giant by the end of this year if it followed its traditional schedule. However, with the summer renewal, delay in the filming, we are now expecting the series to debut at some point in 2021.
The most significant change going into season three will be the departure of Alan, who will not be returning for Season 3, which was confirmed in September 2020.
