Netflix’s Vikings Valhalla Season 1, Plot, Characters And Production Status

Vikings: Valhalla is a brand new spin-off series to History Channels’ signature series. The original series of the online streaming service providing platform is coming globally at some point in the year 2021, and here is an up-to-date roundup of everything that we know about the first season of Vikings: Valhalla.

Vikings: Valhalla is an upcoming Netflix historical-drama series, created by Michael Hirst and a spin-off series of the popular History Channel series Vikings. MGM Productions, like its predecessor, will produce the series.

Jeb Stuart is on board to write the story, who is most known for his work on films including The Fugitive from the year 1993, Die Hard from 1988, and is also currently working on The Liberator for Netflix.

Set over 100 years after Vikings’ events, the end of the Viking age draws ever closer as the Kingdom of England stands really tall against its Scandanavian raiders. After the demise of King Edward the Confessor, three lords make a claim to the English throne, changing the future of England forever.

It has already been confirmed that we will be seeing the following historical figures in action: Leif Erikson, Harald Hardrada, Freydis, and William the Conqueror.

Pre-production for the series had started earlier this year but was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately, it was resumed in the month of July of the year 2020, and now we can confirm that shooting has started in Ashford Studios, Ireland, as of August 2020.

We do not know exactly how long filming will last but planned initially from March to October 2020. On another note, we hear that the second season of Vikings: Valhalla is already in development.

Considering that the previous seasons of Vikings were filmed with not very big intervals, we could expect that the second season of the series may enter production sometime in the second half of the year 2021 for a possible 2022 or early 2023 release.

In the month of September of the year 2020, we got a few more pictures from the set.

The original series is currently made available to stream on Amazon Prime and Hulu in the United States, but the deal for Valhalla is not likely to include Netflix receiving Vikings’ six seasons. This doesn’t mean Netflix won’t pursue Vikings when the license is up at Hulu and Amazon.
