Never Have I Ever premiered on the online streaming service providing platform Netflix in the month of April and instantly became the quarantine must-watch. The comedy from co-creators Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling follows a first-gen Indian American girl growing up in South California.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, an eighteen years old, plays our heroine named Devi Vishwakumar and will be returning for a second season.
The series joins Atypical, Sex Education, and The End of the F*ing World as another teen show grabbing the attention of audiences looking to relive or not their long-ago days of puberty, angst, and general anger and also confusion about the world.
Speaking as a full adult woman who is living in the middle of a pandemic, a lot of her feelings right now mirror those she dealt with as a 13-year-old in a landlocked state. When will she ever see the ocean? When can she leave this isolation?
Anyway. Many of those same feelings were channeled into an uncertainty about when Never Have I Ever season 2 would start filming. Now, the cast is officially back and welcoming a few new members to the fold.
Never Have I Ever Season 2 Filming Continues With Precautions
Netflix has recently renewed Never Have I Ever for a second season, to premiere in the year 2021. The cast announced the news on a Zoom call, shared with the social media accounts of the show.
Kaling posted the video on the social media platform Instagram, writing, “It is official, people! @neverhaveiever Season 2 is happening @loulielang, and I am amazingly grateful for our entire cast, crew members, and the team at @netflix. Since the news of the renewal of the show, there was no official word on when the production would start. When Ramakrishnan spoke to ELLE.com in the month of September, she admitted to being left in the dark about a beginning date.
She said that she is in the same boat as the fans. She does not know what is going to happen at all. Also, she just know for me and of course, the rest of the cast and the crew members of Never Have I Ever, they all want to make sure that when they do start filming again for season 2, they are doing it safely and even more responsibly rather than just rushing into it.
It appears a safe window was secured in the month of November. Sources revealed the outlet that Netflix and Universal Television were planning a November 10 start date barring any pandemic-related issues.
