No Game No Life is a Japanese light novel series by Yū Kamiya. The series follows a group of human gamers seeking to beat the god of games at a series of board games to usurp the god’s throne. The success of the novel and later the manga led to an anime adaptation of the series. The anime premiered in April 2014. It ran for 12 episodes before ending in June of the same year.
The series offered an engrossing storyline with a bunch of amazing characters, which amassed worldwide popularity. And in a short span of time, the series managed to create its own fan base. It has entertained its fans in genres like Isekai, fantasy, and sci-fi. Moreover, the artwork, animation was appreciated by everyone.
As soon as the first season concluded, all eyes were set upon the next one. But, no conformed news hinted at the release date. So, let’s talk about the possibilities of No Game No Life Season 2.
No Game No Life Season 2
It’s rather safe to say that No Game No Life is a popular series that made a lot of money for the production committee. But, there was no announcement of season 2 after the first season because of the light novels and not profit or popularity.
The decision to make the movie must have occurred in early 2015. And that’s because, at that time, there wasn’t material to continue the anime. Only six volumes were released, and the last one was a prequel story. Moreover, some sources said that the author had some health problems. And, maybe that’s why the release speed is so slow for the light novels.
But now, there is source material for continuing the anime if that was the problem. So season 2 is just a matter of time. No Game No Life will likely announce one more season next year or 2022 and air a year later.
No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings, and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username “Blank.” They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games.
The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict—from petty squabbles to the fate of whole countries—are settled not through war but by high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party’s wager.
In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world.
