Perry Mason is a show based on the short stories by Erle Stanley. The story set in 1932 is a period piece with legal drama as it’s the main theme. A very popular show also aired with the same name in the 1950s. Now, this new version of the show has aired 6 episodes. Let’s find out how good it is and what happened in that last episode.
Perry Mason Season 1-Episode 6 updates
Briefly, last what happened was Emily Dodson’s (Gayle Rankin) trial was going on in full force. The opposite council Maynard Barnes (Stephen Root) determined to see her swing for the death of Baby Charlie and Barnes portrays Emily as a lustful and evil woman who killed her child. Perry played by Mathew Rhys is shown fumbling at the begging of the trial in the 6th episode.Matthew Rhys as Perry Mason on HBO
With this episode of the season having most resemblance with the original Raymond Burr series it’s also a nostalgic throwback. For someone like me who saw the original( I see all kinds of weird old stuff), it was fun. Perry Mason on the other side is not having quite the fun he likes. He stumbles during the cross-examination scene. Also, the fact that Emily lied to him about her relationship with George Gannon (seen in flashbacks played by Aaron Stanford) is not a big help either.

On the other hand, Della, Myrna, and Pete are getting closer to find out what happened with Charlie and the truth about her kidnappers. Paul finds out some truth about George but Perry due to his promise can’t use it. All this is making the case a tough to win. Now in the next episodes, we have to see what new ploy he might use to crack the case or will he break his promise to use the information provided by Paul.
Perry Mason will return with episode 7 on August 2nd at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
