Ryan Murphy’s Ratched is arriving on Netflix very soon. FX horror anthology series American Horror Story is Ryan’s well-known work. This gruesome thriller is already all hits. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming show.

Ratched: Release Date

The new series is all set to land on Netflix on September 18, 2020. The series is loosely based on Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. The trailer is quite unsettling and bone-chilling and the viewer cannot get enough of it.

Murphy and Ian Brennan are the showrunners. They have worked together before on the Netflix original series Hollywood.

Sarah Paulson will play Mildred Ratched. Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Sharon Stone, and Jon Jon Briones will join her in different roles.

Mildred arrives in Northern California in 1947 in search of employment at a leading psychiatric hospital. The hospital conducts new and unsettling experiments on the human mind. However, there’s more to it than what meets the eyes.

Mildred is on a clandestine mission and she presents herself as the perfect image of a dedicated nurse. The tables turn when she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it. Mildred’s stylish exterior belies growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.

Kesey’s novel originally depicts a different story. It revolves around a criminal named Randle Patrick McMurphy. He fakes an insanity plea to get transferred to a psychiatric hospital instead of prison. Here, he must rise against cruel Nurse Ratched in order to get out. The novel was adapted into a feature-length film in 1975. The film starred Jack Nicholson as McMurphy and Louise Fletcher as Ratched.
