A Resident Evil live-action series is finally coming to Netflix. After years of speculation, details have finally been coming out about the new season, which is expected on Netflix over the next year.
Resident Evil is an upcoming Netflix Original series that is based on the Capcom game of the same name. The franchise that was launched in the year 1996 has spawned numerous novels, video game sequels, and a popular film franchise.
Netflix is seemingly going all-in on the Resident Evil with this live-action series and at least two of the animated projects, too, the first of which was announced as the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.
Constantin Film is also presently working on a live-action movie that is due for theatrical release in the year 2021.
Netflix themselves didn’t post anything official regarding the live-action series until August 27, 2020. That is when they published the first details via the NXonNetflix account.

The series was first reported back in January 2019. The drama series will be exploring the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the T-virus outbreak.
While the project is still in the early stages of development, the series is expected to incorporate all of the signature elements of Resident Evil, including action sequences and easter eggs.
The first of which involves 14 years old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon City. They realize that their father may be concealing some dark secrets that could destroy the world.
The second timeline does take place over a decade in the future, where only 15M humans remain, with over 6B animals and people being infected with the dangerous T-virus. It follows Jade, now 30, in her efforts to survive in this world.
In the script posted by NXonNetflix in the month of August of the year 2020, we know that the first episode is called “Welcome to New Racoon City.” The episode is written by Andrew Dabb, and it is directed by Bronwen Hughes.
Initial pre-production was due to occur in the month of April 2020 before the main shoot between the month of June the month and October of the year 2020. As you can probably guess, those plans were thrown out after coronavirus ravaged any production schedules in 2020.
Instead, we have learned that the first season is now due to start filming in the month of February of the year 2021, specifically targeting a February 14 start right now.
