Rhea Chakraborty Arrested By NCB: Know The Details Inside

The Jalebi actress, Rhea Chakraborty has been recently arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB). She has been charged under several sections in connection with the drug probe in the death case of Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput. Rhea is till now the prime suspected accused in the death of the Bollywood actor, and she is now going to be presented before the court, after a round of routine medical tests.  According to some reports, the interrogation with the Bollywood actress was conducted for over six hours by the NCB on Sunday, followed by an interrogation of over eight hours on the next day.

She was arrested after a five-hour-long interrogation on Tuesday, under various sections of the NDPS Act. Allegedly, the actress played a vital role in the drugs angle which has emerged in the investigations followed by the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Rhea has been arrested under the following sections, Section 20B, Section 27, Section 28, and Section 29 of the NDPC. In case the actress is found guilty under these sections, then she may have to serve up to as long as ten years in prison.

  • Section 20B – This section says that someone who produces, manufactures possesses, sells, purchases, transports, exports inter-State, imports inter-State, or uses Cannabis, shall be punishable.

Punishment for Section 20B – A rigorous imprisonment for a term extending to ten years is included, along with a fine extending to one lakh rupees.

  • Section 27(A) – This section pertains to the consumption of any psychotropic substance or any narcotic drug. Any individual consuming a psychotropic substance or a narcotic drug including Cocaine, Morphine, Diacetylmorphine, or any drug shall be punished.

Punishment for Section 27(A) – Imprisonment extending to one year and a fine extending to twenty thousand rupees.

  • Section 28 – It stands for punishment for any offender slapped with the NDPS Act.
  • Section 29 – Any individual who lays a criminal conspiracy and abetment or is a party to a criminal conspiracy shall be punished.

Punishment for Section 29 – The individual will have to pay a prescribed penalty for the committed offence.

What The Lawyer of The Bollywood Actress Stated?

Rhea Chakraborty was the fourth one arrested by NBC after Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, and Deepesh Sawant. Soon after her arrest, the lawyer of the accused actress said that the only fault of her client was that she fell in love with a drug addict(Sushant Singh Rajput).

He added that three central agencies are hounding a single woman, just because she was in love with a drug addict suffering from mental health issues and later committed suicide due to the consumption of illegally administered drugs, and medicines.
