The online streaming service providing platform, Netflix, has received a huge success in bringing the comedy genre, and in a hope to continue its recent string of success in the comedy genre. The streaming giant is supposedly bringing back Ricky Stanicky from the dead, which has been in the stages of development for close to a decade.
It has been in the stages of development since the year 2010 in some form or other, with James Franco originally tapped for the project. The movie most recently saw some signs of life when in the year 2013, it was reported that Jim Carrey had been cast as the title role with Steven Oedekerk, writer, on board. Ricky Stanicky Revival: Netflix Bringing It To Us Under Peter Farrelly’s Direction?
However, the project went dark, and since then, nothing had been heard of it; that is until now, where we have heard that Netflix is looking forward to bring back the project. This movie is all about what happens when the prank of three teens goes pearshaped as they invent a fake person to take the blame for a house burning down.
In addition to this, they then make use of the fictional character to blame all their problems on for two decades, and when they get caught out, they hire an actor to play the fictional character. The screenplay writer Steven Oedekerk is getting replaced by Peter Farrelly, with Peter also set to direct the show.
He is a well-known writer, director, and producer who is behind the comedy hits such as Dumb and Dumber, Loudermilk, and There’s Something About Mary. Also, he is presently working on a new film, which is based on the book, The Greatest Beer Run Ever for Skydance Media, which currently has Viggo Mortensen and Dylan O’Brien attached.Ricky Stanicky

Zac Unterman and John Jacobs are attached to the Netflix project as the producers of the show with Tendo Nagenda and Sarah Bowen running the project for the streaming giant. We have also heard that Netflix is currently eying Will Ferrell, who was featured in Eurovision, Netflix’s summer 2020 comedy hit, to play the fictional title role of Ricky Stanicky.
The casting for the three teens JT Levin, Ted Stanton, and Wes, was underway earlier this year.
