Queen Elizabeth II knighted the legendary actor in 2000. Not long ago, Sean celebrated his 90th birthday in August. The sad demise of the star was confirmed by the close ones who said, “Died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family.” The family decided to complete the final rituals in Bahamas. The family members confirmed that his health was under the weather for some time now. This mega-icon blessed our screens lastly with Stephen Norrington’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman” (2003).
The Scottish actor was the first one to portray James Bond with a series of seven films that the banner released between the duration of 1962 and 1983.
Sir Connery has served the industry for almost four decades now and has been nothing less than phenomenal. According to a poll conducted by August Radio Times in the U.K., Sean is the best James Bond actor. The total numbers of voters were around 14000, and Connery claimed 56% of the count. Actor’s rep came forward to confirm the demise. He said, “His wife Micheline and his two sons, Jason and Stephane, have confirmed that he died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family. There will be a private ceremony followed by a memorial is not planned, once the virus has ended.”
Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli expressed their sorrow through their Twitter account. Their combined statement was, “We are devastated by the news of the passing of Sir Sean Connery. He was, and the fans shall always remember as the original James Bond, whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words-” ‘The name’s Bond… James Bond’ — he revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly mostly responsible for the success of the film series, and we shall be forever grateful to him.”
