All the fans of Star Trek should not be expecting a new movie from the franchise anytime soon. Just as it appeared earlier as though the franchise was gaining a new momentum on the big screen with a fresh take by the showrunner of Legion and Fargo, Noah Hawley, now the word comes that the Paramount Pictures is reaccessing the movie on the big screen and putting the project of Hawley on the backburner. This article will be giving you all the details of Star Trek 4 and the updates given by Noah Hawley.
Hawley signed on to write and direct a new movie of the franchise in the month of November of the year 2019, with a take that was teased as a new beginning that would likely not include the cast members from the last three movies that hit the big screen. But it has been reported recently by the THR that the newly installed motion picture group president, Emma Watts, who was formerly at Fox, is taking another look at the slate, and as a result, the movie of Hawley, is being put on hold for the time being.

One more factor that could be holding Hawley’s film back is a plot that revolves around a virus that wipes out large parts of the known universe. Which, given the current pandemic situation we’re currently in, doesn’t really feel like the kind of thing a big studio wants to put a blockbuster budget into right now for fear that audiences will be turned off.
Three different Star Trek movies are in the stages of development currently. The sequel to Star Trek Beyond, Hawley’s film, and a separate original take which is based on an idea by Quentin. Paramount has thus far struggled to make the this franchise, Star Trek franchise as big as they desire it to be on the big screen. But the sequels, Star Trek Into Darkness and the Star Trek Beyond each earned less than their predecessor, as, Paramount watched other major franchises like Star Wars, Marvel, and DC frequently soar to worldwide grosses over $500 million.
Star Trek 4, was in the works as recently as a couple of years ago, that would have involved time travel and found Captain Kirk by Chris Pine interacting with James Kirk, his father, with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role in the movie.
