Ok so, I have good news for everyone especially, DC fans. “Stargirl has been officiated for the second season, however, there is a twist i.e. it is gonna release at The CW. The CW will hold the exclusive rights of the 2nd season of Stargirl. Moreover, it won’t be available on the DC Universe platform. It was announced before the renewal of Stargirl. However, it was premiered on DCU on its first day.
Stargirl: The Star Cast
Stargirl follows the second version of the high school Brec Bassinger(Courtney Whitmore) goes to blue valley, Nebraska’s mother marries Pat Dugan again. Like Wilson plays the character of Pat Dugan. Nebraska gives inspiration to a younger group of superheroes to beat the heroes of history. Apart from them, other casts of the show are Hunter Sansone, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Trae Romano, Neil Jackson, Meg DeLacy, Christopher James Baker, Anjelika Washington, and Jake Austin Walker.
Stargirl: DCU and CW Viewership
The show premiered on DCU on 18 May and the next day it was made available to CW. However, the DCU never gives away the details of viewership. Anyway, Stargirl is doing great on CW especially during the summer. As of now the rating of Stargirl among the people aged 18-49 is 0.2. It has over 1 million viewers per episode according to Nielsen Live+. That is quite equal to other DC universe shows. However, there is a rise in the rating as well as the viewership i.e. 0.4 and 1.5 million respectively.
Who Has Produced The Show?
Stargirl is created by Geoff Johns, also he is the partner showrunner and the executive producer. Apart from Geoff, Melissa Carter, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter serve as the executive producer of the Stargirl. John had created the DC characters in order to accolade his sister. Berlanti Productions along with the Mad Ghost Productions has produced the show. Moreover, the associate producer of the show is Warner Bros Television.
The first show of DCU whose exclusive rights CW holds is Stargirl. However, it won’t be the last one. CW while officiating Stargirl’s release told that it will hold the rights of, “Swamp Things”. As of now, Swamp Things didn’t get renewed after the first season on DCU.
Apart from Stargirl and Swamp Things, many other DC shows have got their new streaming partners. Doom Patrol, recently premiered on HBO Max along with the DCU. Also, Harley Quin, the latest DC animated series will stream on HBO Max.
As of now, The CW has the streaming rights of Stargirl.
