HBO Max has announced a new drama series, which will be a spinoff of Matt Reeve’s upcoming movie ‘The Batman.’ The series will be set in the Gotham City Police Department. The Batman spinoff will be produced by Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark, who is also producing the upcoming film ‘The Batman’.
The streaming service owned by AT&T on Friday revealed that it had given a commitment to a DC drama set in the Gotham City Police Department for a series.
The Batman spinoff is all set to explore Gotham City. Moreover, the series will be the first television project of Reeves with the Warner Bros Television group.
Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter will write the series. Also, the cast and release date are under wrap.
Matt Reeves said recently in a statement, “This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film. But to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a long-form format can afford. And getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream.”
If the upcoming film “The Batman” will be a hit, then the series can help HBO Max earn more subscribers to its platform in the future.
The approach is similar to somewhat Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel is looking to gain on Disney+ more subscribers. Disney is in the process of making television shows featuring characters from its superhit films and the comics. The primary purpose is to develop the universe of these characters through stories and shows. So that more and more subscribers sign up the platform and remain committed to the platform.
