The Irregular at Magic High School is a Japanese web novel series by Tsutomu Satō. It was published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, an internet web novel website, between October 2008 and March 2011. Satō reached a deal with Dengeki Bunko and began releasing his work in a light novel format beginning July 2011.
The series has been well received. The light novels appeared on Sugoi Japan’s 2015 polls and since 2011, is one of the top-selling series in Japan with 10 million copies sold as of 2019. In addition, its manga and anime adaptations also appeared on top-selling charts. English reviewers had mixed to negative reception towards the anime adaptation. The complex technicality of magic within the series was received warmly but the exposition was criticized for being heavy, unclear, and poorly executed.
With all that being said, I’ll get straight to the main news.
At the “Dengeki Bunko Aki no Namahōsō Festival” event on October 6, 2019, a second season of The Irregular at Magic High School anime series was announced. It was originally scheduled to air in July 2020, which adapts the “Visitor Arc” in the novel series. But, The series was delayed due to the effects of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Second Season of Irregular at Magic High School will premiere on October 4, 2020, at 00:30, am (effectively, October 5 at 12:30 a.m.). While, Aniplex of America began streaming an English-subtitled trailer, and the video reveals that the anime will begin streaming on October 3.

Where can I watch The Second Season of Irregular at Magic High School?
The Irregular at Magic High School Season 2 will premiere on both, the television and on the Abema and d Anime Store services. Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, MBS, TV Aichi, AT-X, and other channels will carry the season.
Staff and Cast Details
Risako Yoshida is directing the season at 8-bit Studio. Original character designer Kana Ishida is credited as the character designer, and Taku Iwasaki is returning to compose the music. ASCA will perform the opening theme song “Howling“, while Miki Satō will perform the ending theme song “Na mo Nai Hana“.
The Irregular at Magic High School Plot
The story follows Tatsuya Shiba, a bodyguard to his sister Miyuki Shiba who is also a candidate to succeed in the leadership of the Yotsuba clan, one of the Ten Master Clans that govern Japan’s magicians. They enrol in First High School which segregates its students based on their magical abilities. Miyuki is enrolled as a first-course student and is viewed as one of the best students, while Tatsuya is in the second course and considered to be magically inept. However, Tatsuya’s technical knowledge, combat abilities, and unique magic techniques cause people to view him as irregular to the school’s standardized rankings.
