The immortal icon of world literature, Sherlock Holmes, is being brought to life once again in a live-action form in the upcoming series of the online streaming platform, Netflix, The Irregulars. The creator of the series is Tom Bidwell Oscar-nominated, The Irregulars will be telling the story of the street kids who in Conan Doyle’s canon were helping Dr Watson and Sherlock Holmes with their investigation. Johnny Kenton, the director of Endeavour, is attached to the project as well as Weronika Tofilska, the film director.
Bidwell commented on the working on The Irregulars in a BBC interview that it is his dream project and his oldest idea and he has been pitching it for ten years and he could not be more thrilled to be working on it with the team he made my mad fat diary with at Drama Republic. The online streaming service platform, Netflix are incredibly supportive of their vision for the show, and it is allowing us to be very ambitious with the way we are telling our stories.
Not a lot of information has been revealed about the plot of the series since this is the only an original work based on the characters of Arthur Conan Doyle. Very much like the Enola Holmes book series by Nancy Springer which was adapted into a film on Netflix starring Henry Cavill and Millie Bobbie Brown.
