The Lincoln Lawyer, the television series that was cancelled earlier in this year by CBS looks like it might be making a comeback with the online streaming platform, Netflix, reportedly involved in the bringing of the project back from the grave. It has been written by Michael Connelly, and it is the sixteenth book from the famed writer known for his crime fiction.
The series features a Los Angeles attorney known as Mickey Haller, and the book was adapted into the movie of the year 2011 of the same name, which featured Matthew McConaughey in the titular role.
CBS bought on board David E. Kelley, Mr Mercedes, Boston Legal, Big Little Lies, fast forward almost a decade, to develop television series based on the book but set after the events of the movie. The show has been in the stages of development for quite some time, but in the month of May of this year, it was announced that the series was no longer going ahead at the CBS. It was believed that the show would be ramping up for production shortly before the cancellation.
CBS’ Series, The Lincoln Lawyer, Picked Up By Netflix
It has been developed by both the CBS TV Studios and A+E Studios. Originally David E. Kelley, along with Ted Humprehy and Ada Bernstein, was attached to the project with Logan Marshall-Green pegged for the lead. With the streaming giant, Netflix reportedly stepping in, we are not yet informed whether these names will be attached to the project that has been revived. Also, we would like to tell you the other actors that are attached to the project, and they are Kiele Sanchez, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson.
The story of the series is reported set nine years after all of the events of the Matthew McConaughey movie. The last time we heard anything about the project was in the month of May of this year, when it was reported by the Hollywood reporter that another streaming giant, Amazon Prime Video, is interested in rescuing the series.
Before making any further speculations regarding the renewed project, we should wait for Netflix to confirm all of this officially, so that we can move further with the details regarding the project. Netflix US did pick up the movie for streaming in the United States, and it is still available in the US.
