Tokyo Tarareba Girls (Tokyo ‘What If’ Girls) is a Japanese josei manga series written and illustrated by Akiko Higashimura. It was serialized in Kodansha‘s Kiss magazine from March 2014 to April 2017. And later collected in nine bound volumes. She later drew three new “side story” chapters in Kiss in 2018. She launched the Tokyo Tarareba Musume Season 2 sequel manga in Kiss in April 2019. The Manga won the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award at the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards last year.
On Wednesday, the official website revealed the official premiere for the special date to be 7th October 2020. Also, Akiko Higashimura’s Tokyo Tarareba Girls manga revealed their additional cast members. The special will also feature the live-action series theme song “Tokyo Girl” by Perfume. In this Yuma Suzuki will returns as director, and Yuko Matsuda returns to pen the script.

The cast of Tokyo Tarareba Girls
The new cast members include:
Yuriko Yoshitaka as Rinko, Nana Eikura as Kaori, and Yuko Oshima as Koyuki.
Kōhei Matsushita as Riichi Asakura(Rinko’s boyfriend).
Daichi Watanabe as Yū Hirasawa(Kaori’s husband).
Additional cast members, who are all reprising their roles from the earlier live-action series, include:

Kodansha Comics is releasing the original manga digitally in English and it describes the manga as: “I spent all my time wondering ‘what if’, then one day I woke up and I was 33.” She’s not that bad-looking, but before she knew it, Rinko was thirty-something and single. She wants to be married by the time of the Tokyo Olympics. But that might be easier said than done! The new series by Akiko Higashimura erupts with sharp opinions on girls and tons of laughs!!
What is Tokyo Tarareba Girls About?
Rinko is a screenwriter living in Tokyo. She is 33-years old and still unmarried. Rinko has not been satisfied in love or at work. And she often goes out drinking with Kaori and Koyuki, her best friends since high school. One day, the three women are dining and drinking at an Izakaya. Izakaya. Like always, they’re complaining about the men they have dated. A mysterious and handsome young man with blond hair named Key appears. He tells them that they are still unmarried because of the “If I had done” or “If I had been attitude”. After hearing this, Rinko makes up her mind to get married by 2020. 2020, Which is the year of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
