Here is great news for all the memoir book lovers. Angelina Jolie, an exceptional director, and artist is all set to direct the biopic of a war photographer, Don McCullin. The movie is in the same name as Mr. Don’s autobiography titled “Unreasonable Behavior”.
Tom Hardy and Dean Baker are producing the project under their Hardy Son & Baker banner. They are working alongside Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. McCullin and Mark George are executive producers for the same.
Angelina says she feels humbled to have a chance to bring Don McCullin’s life to film. She is drawn to his unique combination of fearlessness and humanity. His absolute commitment to witnessing the truth of war and his empathy and respect for those who suffer its consequences is commendable.
“We hope to make a film that is as uncompromising as Don’s photography, about the extraordinary people and events he witnessed, and the rise and fall of a unique era in journalism,” Jolie added.
McCullin said, “Having viewed Angelina’s last film on Cambodia (and having spent so much time during the war there) I was very impressed at how she made such a powerful and accurate representation of the place at that time. I feel as if I am in safe, capable, and professional hands with her.”
Unreasonable Behavior ‘The Book’:
Don McCullin’s book gives us a string of iconic photos from the construction of the Berlin Wall through every major conflict of his adult life up to the Syrian Civil War.
McCullin worked as a photographer’s assistant within the RAF during the Suez Crisis. His early association with a North London gang led to one of his very first publication of his pictures. McCullin soon became a unique kind of hero, as a foreign photojournalist working for the Sunday Times Magazine in the beginning. He took a generation of readers beyond the bigotry of post-war domestic life through the lens of his Nikon camera. He captured the harsh realities of war in various places of Vietnam, Cambodia, Biafra, the Congo. Capturing the human tragedy of famine and cholera on the Bangladesh border and later, the AIDs epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa.
McCullin now spends his days in a Somerset village, where he captures the picturesque landscape and arranges still-lives. Unreasonable Behavior is an unprecedented account of a witness who triumphed over the memories that would have destroyed him.
