Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman 1984, is far from confident that the film will be finally bowing in cinemas this Christmas. The Worlds of DC films most recently faced another in a string of release date delays due to the coronavirus, pushing back its arrival from October 2 to December 25, Christmas Day. As of now, there is no telling if they are going to stick to that date.
Also, we would like to tell you that not even the director of the movie, Jenkins seems confident about her movie hitting the cinema screens this holiday season, after facing some questions about her confidence in the Christmas Day release date from sources.
The filmmaker said that she does not think that anybody can be confident of anything as of now. They just do not know what the course of coronavirus is going to be like. Although Jenkins was really quick to walk back her skepticism, adding that she remains very hopeful that the Warner Bros will somehow be able to pull it off.
Wonder Woman 1984: Is It Finally Releasing On Christmas This Year?
She added that it feels totally possible to her; she was mentioning about the release date. Also, she has thus far denied that any of the discussions are underway to bypass the cinemas altogether for a direct to streaming release for the upcoming movie.
She wrote to a fan on the social media platform Twitter in early October that direct to Streaming is not even being discussed thoroughly. They are still 100% behind the theatrical experience for #WW84 and supporting their beloved theater business.
While there is certainly a cloud hanging over the opening of Wonder Woman 1984, Jenkins and her star of the movie, Gal Gadot, are already moving along to their next collaboration. She is all set to direct Gal Gadot in a lavish biopic of the Egyptian Empress named Cleopatra, from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis of Shutter Island.
As of now, the release date for the next installment of the film is set to be December 25, 2020. However, this update is yet to be officially confirmed as we do not have any word officially on the release date of the movie. Well, if it is going to be released on Christmas, then it is surely a delight for the fans of Wonder Woman and a more of a Christmas gift.
