X-Cellent: Milligan Confirms X-Statix Spinoff
Peter Milligan has given information on the status of the X-Statix spinoff, X-Cellent. Milligan replied to a fan on Twitter, who said that it was “criminal” that no word on the spinoff had been released.
Milligan will reunite along with his fellow X-Statix co-creator Mike Allred for the series, which features the titular team joining.
X-Cellent was first declared last year after Milligan and Allred reunited for the Giant-Size X-Statix onetime. Not many details are revealed about the series, though it will see several members of X-Statix joining.

The announcement by Milligan’s comes at a time where several of the X-Men titles are on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The book’s future was called into question lately due to these conditions. Some books were going to come up that is not going to take place now, and books that did not exist that soon will. I don’t think it’s too insane to say a global crisis shifted some of our plans. Jordan D. White, X-Men group editor, said while discussing this development.
X-Statix initially emerged in X-Force #116 in 2001. The team was intended to be mutant celebrities, as against to the front line strike force that X-Force is sometimes depicted as. X-Statix became a vogue classic due to its irreverent nature and subversion of tropes within the X-Men tradition.
