‘Yaara‘ is a 2020 Indian Hindi language film released digitally on ZEE5. It is an action crime drama movie starring Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. The movie is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. Read on to know the story and its review.
‘Yaara’ which translates as ‘friend’ is a story about the journey of four friends and the resulting operations across the India-Nepal border. The movie is the remake of a French film titled ‘A Gang Story‘. Phagun, Mitwa, Rizwan, and Bahadur, all four of them find themselves into the dark alleys of the underworld. Their friendship is celebrated in the movie with their rise and fall in the world of crime.

‘Yaara’ begins with Phagun and Mitwa’s friendship as brothers. With Phagun’s father’s death, both are orphaned at an early age. Hence, they resort to evil practices like wielding a gun to take revenge for his death. Also, they resort to stealing and minor crimes for their survival. They meet Rizwan and Bahadur when they start working for a gang of smugglers.
All the elements of a great friendship including tears, handshakes, banter are beautifully portrayed in the movie ‘Yaara’. All four thrive and strive together by looting and robbing to make a living but later on end up in prison when the police bust them.
In the second innings of their life after getting out of jail, they are determined to live a respectable life. However, their true friendship is shown when one of them Mitwa, is arrested by CBI for a crime. Three of them readily help him without even giving it a second thought.
‘Yaara’ is a multi-star film and everyone has aced their performances. Starting with Vidyut, his acting is par good and the fighting sequences will surely impress you. Sukanya and his relationship is also shown beautifully. Actors including Vijay Varma, Amit Sadh, and Kenny have given praiseworthy performances.
The movie ‘Yaara’ also highlights criminal aspects, smuggling, and socio-political affairs in the North-India during the 90s. The language used in the movie is authentic and the melodious songs fit in perfectly with the neat storyline. Thus, the movie is a sweet entertainer and a feel-good movie.
